TBU West Division

Lynx Easily Beat Champions
Righthander Jerry Smith (3-0) notched his third successive win by dumping Arlon 8-1 in a game played at Capitol Park Stadium in La Claire. Smith dazzled the Champs on just 3 hits, fanned 6 and walked 4. Leading the Lynx attack was 2B Darrell Boyce, who went 3-4 with a homer, double and 5 RBIs. Pete Edgar (0-2) suffered the loss for Arlon, allowing 5 hits and 6 runs and departed in the fifth inning.
La Claire (10-2) is the top team in the TBU West, while Arlon (5-7) is in the third spot in the standings, tied with the Blue Lake Blue Sox and the Bayview Vikings.

Bucs Beat Frogs with 5-run 9th
Shoreline Park in Bay St. Claire was a hitter's paradise today as the homestanding Buccaneers rebounded in the late innings for an 11-9 victory over the Fairfax Frogs. After falling behind 9-3 in the sixth, the Bucs rallied for 3 in the seventh and 5 in the ninth to surprise the Frogs and delight their fans. C Jake Singleton delivered a dramatic 3-run walk-off smash off loser Johnny Schuessler (0-3) to win it. Bay St. Clair collected 10 hits in all, led by Singleton's 2-for-5 and 3 RBIs. 2B Tony Mann was 2-5 with a home run and 4 RBIs, 3B Bubba Tate had a 2-run roundtripper and LF Charley Moon rapped out 3-4 and scored 3 times. Denny Coulon and Johnny Nikolsky supplied good relief for skipper Guy Rondre as they held Fairfax hitless over the last three frames. Nikolsky (1-1) picked up the win.
The Frogs also had a good day at the plate with 13 hits. 3B Stan Cobb and RF Gregg Vincent both were 3-for-5 with 3 RBIs. Cobb (3rd), Vincent (8th) and LF Gator Brown (3rd) provided home runs. Vincent is the home run leader in the IPA.
With the defeat Fairfax (7-5) fell three games behind the TBU West leader, the La Claire Lynx (10-2). Bay St. Claire (4-8) is pulling up the rear in last place.

Vikings Rip Blue Sox
Bayview combined some good hitting with some decent pitching and finished off Blue Lake 8-4 at Harbor Stadium today. 1B Dwayne Coleman walloped his 6th homer of the campaign, collecting 3 hits in 4 at-bats with 3 RBIs, SS Shorty Richards chipped in with 3-for-5, 2 RBIs and scored twice and 2B Alan Hansen went 2-for 3 with a double, 2 runs and 2 RBIs. On the hill Charley Andrews (1-1) labored at times but still managed to get the win. Lewis exited with the score 6-4. He permitted 4 runs and 6 hits before he was relieved in the seventh by Buzzy Lewis. The save went to Lewis, who gave up no runs in 2+ innings. It was his second of the year.
Pete Henry (1-2) caught the loss. The Viks flailed him for 5 runs and 7 hits in just over 4 innings.
Bayview (5-7) moved up in the TBU West and is now tied for third with the Blue Sox and Arlon. All of them trail first place La Claire by 5 games.
