TBU East Division

Ninjas in 4-Way Tie in TBU East
It's a logjam in the TBU East Division race with Ginza, Cape Coral, Hartsdale and Luxora all tied for the top spot. Ginza scored twice in the ninth to edge past the Ozarka Naturals 6-4 at Ellie Ewing Stadium. Three walks by loser Jackie Cunningham (0-1) forced across the winning run and an error allowed another score. Ken Watkins (1-0) got credit for the victory with 2 scoreless innings. 1B Kenshin Yamamoto went 2-for-5 with his 3rd homer of the year. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice to pace the Ninja offense.
All of the co-leaders have 7-6 records. Ozarka (6-7) is in second place, just one game behind. Last place belongs to the South Fork Stallions (5-8).

Z's Callahan Cages Hellcats, Luxora tied for First
The Zorros are now in a 4-way deadlock for the top spot in the TBU East. All because of a young righthander pitcher. He may only be 20-year-old, but Luxora's Keith Callahan pitched like a vet -- he authored a 9-2 win over the Hartsdale Hellcats and struck out 9 in the process. Callahan (1-1) stopped the Hellcats on 6 hits and issued only one walk. The Zorros gave him good run support, too. RF Claudio Ordonez, 1B Paul Hallenbeck and C Eric Richter all had 2 hits in the game. Ordonez and Hallenbeck both drove in a pair of runs. Hallenbeck did it with a double and a triple.
The loss went to starter Danny Griffin (2-2), who departed in the sixth after permitting 5 hits and 7 runs, only 2 of them earned. Hartdale committed 3 errors.
Both Luxora and Hartsdale are 7-6 this year and tied with the Ginza Ninjas and Cape Coral Hurricanes for first place in the division.

Stallions Slip by Hurricanes 5-3
South Fork put on a 3-run rally in the eighth inning to overtake Cape Coral 5-3 and create a four-way tie for first place in the super tight TBU East. And it was winning pitcher Jerry Harrison, who tied the game at 3-3 with an RBI single. 2B Bob Jones then won it by driving in the final two scores with a single. Harrison (1-1) pitched a solid game. He was touched for 7 hits, fanned 4 and walked only one batter. The Hurricanes got a good 6 innings from starter Kaz Hayagawa, who allowed only 2 runs on 7 hits. But Cody Burg (0-1) gave it away and blew the save in the fatal eighth. He was ripped for 3 runs on 4 hits in his two innings. LF Mac Stewart belted a home run for the Stallions, while 1B Roger Wooten got one for Cape Coral.
