Ledbetter Beats Diamonds
Big Casey Ledbetter of the first place Marston NIne was touched for ten hits, but he spread them out enought to beat the Claxton Diamonds 5-2. Ledbetter (4-1) fanned eight and walked three for his fourth victory of the season. Left fielder Ronnie Horn (.300) racked up 4 hits in 4 at-bats and center fielder Tommy Reinhold (.268) with 2-for-5 and two runs scored paced the winners. Shortstop Bobby Ritter (.348) went 4-for-5 and Marty McCluskey (.260) 2-for-5 for the Diamonds. They hammered back-to-back roundtrippers in the fifth inning, the only runs off Ledbetter. Bill Wallace (0-3) lost his third straight game, permitting five runs and nine hits before leaving in the sixth. The Nine outhit Claxton 13 to 10.

Marston (15-11) is on top of the RBU South, while Claxton (9-17) is last in the division.

BB's Garrett Stops FC
Right fielder Nicky Swift clubbed a two-run homer in the sixth to send the Belair Beach Sunbirds to a 3-1 victory over Forest City Lumberjacks. His 10th roundtripper gave Dirk Garrett (2-5) a well-deserved win as he outhurled Buddy Hutchinson. Garrett checked the Lumberjacks on six hits, fanned three and walked three for the day. Hardluck Hutchinson (2-4) has only two victories to show for this season, yet he has an outstanding 2.91 ERA. He held the Sunbirds to just four hits over eight innings of work.

Belair Beach (13-13) and Forest City (13-13) are deadlocked in fourth in the RBU South, two games out of first place.

Second place Sugar Valley (13-11) and third place Waleska (14-12) had an off day.
