Career: 1967-1980
One of the stranger ducks in the late 60s-70s heavyweight pond (along with Charlie "Devil" Green). Fought most of the main guys of his era with little success. Also worked as a singer, impersonator, chef, plumber, and painter. I guess living in Jersey City in those days you did what you had to if you wanted to survive.
Al Certo ran a small arena in Secaucus in the late 60s, and I actually saw the Emperor (he was callin himself "Showboat" then) do battle with Chuck Wepner. The Bayonne Bleeder took him out in six.
