Maybe this has been covered elsewhere, but about two-thirds of the way through the season, the announcement came down that a pitcher would be retiring. He was leading in wins at the time and was in the top three in ERA and strikeouts. He wound up leading the league in all three categories and had his best season ever.

But once the season ende, he disappeared off the leader boards, as if his final season didn't count, and the pitching award went to someone far less deserving.

This happened once before (that I know of) in the 70-year history of this particular universe, and it really ought to be fixed (though it's hard to call it a high-priority issue).
