Sugar Valley Swaps 2-for-1 with FM Redhawks

Just two days prior to the trading deadline, officials for the Sugar Valley Rattlers of the RU South confirmed that they have traded 26-year-old right fielder Karl Dietz to the Far Mountain Redhawks of the RU North. In return, the Rattlers will receive 28-year-old right fielder Tommy Sonnier and 28-year-old starting pitcher Stan Lamoreaux. The deal was consumated today by GM/Manager Alex Groveland of the Redhawks and GM Manny Earl of the Rattlers.

Groveland commented to the press, "We desperately need a home run hitter and Dietz was the best one available. I think we can compete very well offensively now with the other three pennant contenders. Dietz will really add some sorely-needed power to our lineup."

Far Mountain is 2.5 games back in the division and is currently in second place. Dietz will take over left field for Far Mountain, while Sonnier will be in right field for the Rattlers. Lamoreaux will step into manager Gibson Bobkins' starting rotation in the number four slot.

Bobkins told BNN, "I'm happy. I got a quality outfielder and a quality starter in the trade. we are a better ballclub."

Sugar Valley is third in their division, 6.5 games out of first place. Dietz is presently hitting at a .252 pace with 17 home runs, 53 RBIs and has scored 42 times. Lamoreaux has compiled a 7-4 mark with a 4.36 ERA in 16 starts. He has fanned 118 in 117 innings, while walking 63. Sonnier sports a .252 batting average with 9 homers, 45 RBIs and has scored 50 times and stolen 19 bases.
