Frogs Vincent Out for Season

Fairfax fans held their breath as clean-up hitter Gregg Vincent left yesterday's Champions-Frogs contest with an injury. After the game, the team's medical staff said that the 32-year-old right fielder had suffered a ruptured achilles tendon while running the bases. It's estimated that he will be out 3 months.

This is a devastating loss for the Frogs. Vincent is currently hitting at a .327 pace with 38 home runs, 106 RBIs and has scored 86 times. Without Vincent, Fairfax is just an average ballclub in the Tycobbian Union West and will be severely challenged by second place Blue Lake and third place Arlon. The crippled Frogs currently lead the Blue Sox by 3 games and the Champions by 4 games, heading into the final two weeks of the season.

Vincent missed two weeks in July with a sprained ankle and Fairfax changed from a dominant team to just an average team in the division. Louie Ward, a light-hitting contact batter, will take his place in a platoon with the newly-signed Freddy Ryan. Ward is batting .299 on the year with 39 starts, 8 doubles, 3 triples, 1 home run, 17 RBIs and 21 runs scored. Things are not looking good at the Frog Pond.
