Bad News for Blue Sox, Lose Closer Courtney
Very bad news for manager Cobb Tyson. His Blue Lake closer Russ Courtney hasn't been feeling well lately and now has been diagnosed with strep throat. He's expected to be out for one week. The Blue Sox are battling for a wild card position and will sorely miss Courtney. In 2001 the bullpen ace has worked 93 innings in 58 relief appearances and picked up 20 saves. He has dished out 73 strikeouts and walked 23 with a 6-4 mark and a 2.32 ERA.

Paddy O'Rourke, a 27-year-old lefthander, will move into the finishing role. He has just recently joined the team and has a 1-0 record with one save in four relief appearances with a fine 2.00 ERA.
