Bayview's Hansen Top TU Hitter
The 2001 Tycobbian Union batting title went to Alan Hansen. A key contributor for Bayview this year, he hit .371. His 206 hits led the league and included 29 doubles, 9 triples and 1 home run. The 22-year-old Viking second baseman also topped the league with 129 runs and knocked in 51 while playing in 144 games. Hansen also finished second in stolen bases with 64.
Perez Hits .374 To Earn RU Bat Crown
Scooter Perez of the Volusia Vigilantes capped a fine season by winning the Ruthlandian Union batting crown. He outpaced all others with his .374 average. For the season, the Vigilantes 25-year-old shortstop played in 141 games, collected 214 hits, 8 home runs, scored 105 times and knocked in 45 runs. Perez regarded himself as "lucky" to avoid any lengthy slumps. "The hits kept coming," he said, "all year long."
