This is the first of some fighters from the UK that I'm going to look at doing some ratings, possibly like McIlvaney here, an update from a TB2.0 rating I did earlier. I hope to get a few of these guys that I can dig up some info on from the Boxing News edititions I have from the mid/late 60's.

Career Record: W12(KO 7) / L13(KO 11) / D3

BoxRec lists his birthplace as Birmingham, but a gentleman who introduced himself to me on this forum as Jim McIlvaney put Jim's birthplace as Bellshill, Scotland. There's short articles in Boxing News issues in 1966 that I found referencing McIlvaney as from Scotland.

The accounts in Boxing News for McIlvaney's fights are brief at best, but they givea a clear indication that McIlvaney had a problem sustaining eye injuries and cuts that stopped him in at least 7 of his 11 losses that he was stopped in. The accounts though gave indications that though he and his opponents for the most part were not very scientific in thier fighting abilities, they put on some rousing slug it out shows that the crowds enjoyed.

The Data Base team will be posting McIlvaney's file into the data base. As I go through some of these fighters from the UK that I hope to get some insite on from the Boxing News editions I have, I'll post some update here in the HW forum once his rating is checked out ok by the data base team. I'm not going to post the files though since they can be obtained from the TB2.5 updates.
