Tycobbian Union Final 4 Playoffs

South Fork Slams Ginza 8-2, Leads Final Four 2-0
South Fork slammed out 12 hits to trash the Ginza Ninjas 8-2 for the Stallions second consecutive win in the Final 4 playoffs. Second baseman Rick Tsoukalis (.294) lashed three hits and drove in three runs to spark South Fork to a 2-0 lead in the series. Catcher Darryl Burnett (.290) and left fielder Lyle Lindsey (.273) each chipped in two RBIs, too. Three runs in the first and third paved the way for an easy victory for manager Deroche "Lips" Leon's crew. The Stallions lost their starting pitching for 1-2 weeks with arm trouble. Vince Bernini had to be taken out in the third inning after he has retired all seven batters he faced. Reliever Kyle Moss (1-0 1.42) came to the rescue and chalked up the win. The 24-year-old righthander went the rest of the way, holding the Ninjas to two runs and four hits in six and a third innings.

South Fork general manager Finley Charles said Bernini's roster slot would be taken by Bobby Petrov, a 30-year-old righthander. Manager Leon said Ken Olson or Robby Rosario would move from middle relief to Bernini's place in the starting rotation. Olson was 16-14 during the regular season with a 2.93 ERA. He and Rosario have been in the bullpen in the playoffs. Olson has not been used in the playoffs, while Rosario has stood out with a 1-0 record and five scoreless innings in three relief appearances.

Ruthlandian Union Final 4 Playoffs

V's Snap Redhawks Playoff Streak at 5 Games
The Volusia Vigilantes put an end to Far Mountain's unbeaten playoff record. Tommy Betanzos (2-1 1.88) and the V's snapped the Redhawks victory string at five games with a 4-1 triumph. That tied up the Final 4 Series at one game apiece. Betanzos pitched a complete game, scattering eight hits in the process. He fanned three and walked none in a solid outing. Third baseman Shane Wells' (.179) second-inning single put Volusia up 2-0. Far Mountain got its only run of the game in the bottom of the inning when shortstop Joey Cannizzaro (.286) bunted for a single, stole second and rode home on left fielder Karl Dietz's (.273) base hit. Wells added another run in the fourth with a single and first baseman Alejandro Salazar (.206) finished up the scoring with his second homer of the playoffs in the fifth. Wells drove in three runs to pace Volusia. Sonny Elliott (2-1 2.74) had a disappointing day and took the loss. He allowed four runs in five innings. Both ballclubs had 8 hits in the game.
