My biggest problem with Farve is that he waits so damn late into the summer to decide to come back. If my memory is correct Clemens by the opening of ST has pretty much decided he wants to play and then gets himself ready for a may/june return
Boxers can retire/unretire as much as they like since it is not a team sport. When you play a team sport you sort of have to keep the team in mind when making decisions like this.
