In 1972 that really is amazing. I saw Wayne Twitchell pitch against the Expos at Veterans Stadium in 1972 when those two teams were fighting for cellar-dwelling rights, and he was terrible (which was somewhat worse than the rest of his season).

He had two really good years in 1973 and 1976. I had him on my Longball (card game) Phillies club in '76, and traded him to the Dodgers for Steve Garvey. He was the best combination starter/reliever in our league (twelve teams) that season.

{As an aside, that trade really solidified my infield, giving me Gary Carter behind the plate, Garvey, Dave Cash (best defensive second baseman and best hit-and-run man in the league), Larry Bowa (great defense and finished third behind Mickey Rivers and Davey Lopes in steals two seasons running) and Schmidt.
