Ruthlandian Union West Division Sweet 16 Series - Game One
Satterwhite Homers, Roosters Edge FC 7-5
The Middlefield Roosters used three home runs to take the first game of the Sweet 16 series at Riverside Stadium in Forest City. 3B Lowell Satterwhite whacked a pair, including the gamewinner in the ninth to break a 5-5 tie and give Middlefield the victory 7-5. Satterwhite (.500) now has four homers and eight RBIs in the postseason. He drove in four runs in today's win. 1B Allie Ludlow also (.500) chipped in a two-run shot in the fourth frame, putting the Roosters up 4-0. Ludlow also scored three times. Topping the 'Jacks batters were RF Chuck Hill (.364) with two hits and four runs batted in and 3B Johnny Mack Butler (.231) with three hits and two runs scored. Joshua Jackson (1-0 3.00) registered the victory by working the final three innings, permitting two runs - one earned - on three hits. He allowed Forest City to tie the score at 5-5 in the eighth. Reliever Grover Haygood (0-1 9.00) surrendered the homer to Satterwhite and received the loss.
The series will travel to Middlefield for the final two games, if both are needed.
