Tycobbian Union South Division Sweet 16 Series - Game One

Nuevo Tosses 3-Hitter, SA Bombs Turon 10-2
Manager Lando Peceda got excellent pitching, 14 hits and four homers to annihilate Turon 10-2 in game one of their IPA Sweet 16 playoff series played at Typhoon Stadium. Juliano Nueva (1-1 4.26), a crafty righthander, yielded only three hits in going the route, striking out nine and walking three. 3B Paolo Huerta (.222), RF Marcelino Zuniga (.412), SS Ernie Pilar (.600) and 1B Rodger Wooten (.286) all jacked home runs in the victory. Zuniga had three hits and three RBIs, LF Bernie Valente (.333) three hits and two RBIs and Huerta drove in a pair of scores. Pilar went 3-for-5, scored a run and batted in a run for the winners. RF George Farley (.231) and CF Lance Ambrose (.364) rapped roundtrippers in defeat. The Montaneros tagged Jeb Pickett (0-2 5.79) with the loss. Pickett was ripped for three homers and four runs in two-plus innings.

San Alejo, one of the favorites to win the IPA Pro Cup, will try to wrap up the series tomorrow at home at the Casa de Beisbol.
