Tycobbian Union East Division Sweet 16 Series - Game Two

Red Sox Sweep Blue Jays on Cole's HR
Red Bluff got a clutch home run from SS Brooks Cole in the seventh inning to give them a 4-3 victory over the tough Tuckanarra Blue Jays, advancing the Red Sox to the IPA Elite 8. Red Bluff took two in a row to eliminate Tuckanarra from the playoffs. Red Bluff Park is a hitter's ballpark, but both clubs got good mound work from Frank Beaudoin of the Red Sox and Will Crowe of the Blue Jays. Red Bluff drew first blood with a two runs in the second. Tuckanarra tied it up with runs in the third and fifth. The Red Sox went up 3-2 in the last of the fifth and were again deadlocked by the Blue Jays in the sixth. Beaudoin (1-1 1.69) tossed seven innings, allowed three runs - only two earned - and eight hits, while fanning four and walking none. Reliever Rog Udall picked up the save with a scoreless eighth and ninth, giving up no hits and a walk. Crowe (1-1 3.38) went the route and gave up nine hits and four runs in defeat. Cole (.304) had 3 hits in 4 at-bats for the Red Sox, while 2B Owen MacArthur (.286) homered for the Blue Jays. Red Bluff outhit Tuckanarra 9 to 8.

Red Bluff will play the Oxford Red Caps in the next round, beginning Monday afternoon.
