Ah. That's the problem. This is a laptop with an ATI radeon 200m Xpress graphics card. In their infinite wisdom, ATI/AMD dropped driver support for this card, even though there are many, many people still using it. I'd need to roll back my version of X and the kernel to get this to work.

Starting the app with the "nofacegen" argument gave me the same error. So no go there.

Luckily, ootp10 works on my desktop, so this isn't a huge issue.
