Kenwood, San Alejo Swap Players
It has been in the rumor mill for several weeks, but today team officials for Kenwood and San Alejo confirmed an agreement. The Wildcats dealt 28-year-old second baseman Denholm Carruthers to the Montaneros for 27-year-old center fielder Juan Padilla, 23-year-old second baseman Xavier Rocha and a pitcher to be named later.
In his two seasons Carruthers has put up a career batting average of .332 with 330 hits, 18 homers and 129 RBIs.
Rocha was a regular for the Montaneros for two years, batting .256 in 2003 with 5 home runs, 56 RBIs, 93 walks and scored 91 runs.
Padilla has been a utility outfielder and has registered a career batting average of .245 with 49 hits, 2 homers and 13 RBIs. He hit .298 last year, mainly as a pinchhitter, starting 21 games.
