Paddison, Giacone Swap Teams
The Cybercats and Tars confirmed this afternoon that a trade had been agreed upon. In the deal, Grand City will get 26-year-old center fielder Teddy Giacone, while Taranto will receive 32-year-old starting pitcher Lefty Paddison.
Paddison was 19-18 with 3.34 ERA last year for a seventh-place team. He has authored a 33-30 won-lost record in his career with a 3.12 ERA.
Slugger Giacone, one of the longest hitter in the IPA, ripped 42 out of the park in 2003, drove in 105 runs, but hit a paltry .222. Giacone has played in 280 games with a .230 career batting average and has hit 70 home runs in his two seasons.
Tars manager Tommaso Lazzorda, old lefty himself, was delighted to get a starting pitcher. "Paddison is a man after my own heart. We can score runs. We needed help in the pitching department and got it with Lefty."
Cybercat manager Torry Joseph told the press, "We need to score more runs. We have not done that very well our first two years in the IPA. Giacone can hit it out anywhere and at anytime. He also plays a good right field. I just have to get busy and find somebody as good as Lefty. You also need pitching, too."
