Montaneros Send Acosta To Wildcats To Complete Deal
The San Alejo Montaneros swapped 27-year-old reliever Pedro Acosta for 28-year-old center fielder Johnny Laborde of the Kenwood Wildcats. Acosta was the "player to be named later" in a deal completed earlier this month.
Acosta was 9-5 last season in 55 games with a 3.95 ERA. Acosta made 11 starts and nailed down 6 saves. During his 110-game career Acosta has fashioned a 16-12 won-lost record. In 238 innings he has rolled up 203 strikeouts and a 3.52 ERA with 13 saves. Kenwood intends to use Acosta as their #4 starter.
LaBorde played 36 games in the 2002 season with a .208 batting average. San Alejo will keep LaBorde on their reserved roster.
