Im not sure i understand what you mean by an easier way. Im not sure there is anything easier than selecting the date you want the game to sim too. Are you saying its simming the years too slowly. If so it could depend on how much data you are saving each year.
Then again i stop simming years at a time or even 1 year at a time and sim week to week or monthly. I dont know about others but i tend to notice little things that i probably wouldnt notice by simming a whole year at once and just looking at the stats.
