I only found out this weekend the Sox had even made the playoff thanks to a phone call with my mother. The main reason I think I had lost touch was I wasn't going to the games anymore. There's nothing in the world like arriving at a park 2 hours early, watching BP and getting your scorecard ready, and that was priced out of my world. Not to mention the way Fenway Park seemed to get dumbed down. Swet Caroline, multi-colored hats, organ music phased out, the person next to me not knowing Marty Barrett from Marty Felman...

I used to go to 20+ games a year, even as a teen with no money. Even 12 years ago I could go on the day of a game and get a good seat in the grandstand for $25. I will always remember September of 2006, when all these great fans were selling $250 seats on ebay for $20. It worked out in my favor, but still...

Now I'm depressed... At least I got to go to all the Tokyo Games of the WBC this year. Probably the most fun I've had in my life.

That reminds me of 1995 when I was working part time at Star Market. On Sundays, I would get out of work at noon and head right over to fenway and buy tickets at the window for grandstand (Right field, but still) I was able to watch Tim Wakefield's magical run in his first year with the sox. Good times
