RU's Best Rookie Proclaimed
It was a standout 2005 season for Harold Setser. The 32-year-old center fielder for the Waleska Westerners has been named the winner of the Ruthlandian Union Rookie of the Year Award. He hit .321 in 152 games with 25 home runs, 187 hits, 107 RBIs and scored 112 runs, helping the Westerners rise up to fourth place in the South Division.
Another center fielder ran a close second in the vote. 24-year-old Tavi Vakros of Ancona put up a .323 mark with 27 homers, 88 RBIs and 118 runs scored, enabling the Red Elephants to climb up into fourth place in the RU North and into the first division for the first time in their history.
Marston's third sacker Jimmy Holman came in third for the Rookie Award. Holman is 24 and hit the ball at a .312 clip with 28 long balls, 107 runs batted in and 80 runs scored. The Nine came in second in the RU North race.
