Tycobbian Union
Zitek Cops TU MVP Award
2005 has been a wonderful season for High Mesa's brilliant left fielder Adam Zitek. Just a few days ago he was honored with the Tycobbian Union Golden Bat Award and now Zitek has been acclaimed the league's Most Valuable Player. The 27-year-old Cowboy slugger set a new IPA record with 170 RBIs. Zitek also unloaded 51 home runs, the second highest number in league history. For the year Zitek sported a .305 batting average.
He outpaced Hartsdale's terrific first baseman Mac Faulkner, who had a banner year as well. Faulkner led the Hellcats to a second-place finish in the TU North with a .344 batting average, 30 homers and 130 RBIs.
Third in the balloting was Midway's superb center fielder Jan Szymanski. He played great in the field, batted .323 with 36 roundtrippers, 108 RBIs and scored 101 runs. It was the best year the 33-year-old veteran has had in his four years in the league.
