IPA Announces Best Newcomers
Ruthlandian Union Names Top Rookie
Rookies are supposed to be seen, but not heard. At least, that's how most veterans feel. But that's not the case with Elnora's Rick Mulloy. He spoke up loudly and often this season on his way to winning the Ruthlandian Union Rookie of the Year Award for 2006.
To be accurate, the 25-year-old center fielder let his performance do the talking. In his debut season Mulloy piled up some good stats, hitting .289, driving in 76 runs and scoring 125 times, while playing in 147 games. The All-Stars newcomer also had 25 doubles, 12 triples and 24 home runs.
TU Top Newcomer Named
His rookie season has paid off well for Teddy Blanton of the Colchester Elites. He has hit the jackpot. The 27-year-old right fielder topped off his fine first season with the 2006 Tycobbian Union Rookie of the Year Award. It was a season to remember for the Elites newcomer. He wrapped up his inaugural year with a .329 batting average, 24 doubles, 5 triples and 47 home runs. Blanton also had 134 RBIs and scored 106 times.
