2008 Islandian Pro Alliance Final 4 Series

Ruthlandian Union - Game 5 at Granger Field in Wynnamac

Wynnamac On A Roll, Heads To Pro Cup Finals
The Wynnamac Sundowners are on quite a roll... they bowled over LaGrange 7-4 in game five of the Ruthlandian Final 4 and will now advance to the Pro Cup Finals against the champion of the Tycobbian Union... Skeets Hobart (4-0 2.12) marked up his fourth consecutive playoff victory... He gave up nine hits and four runs in eight innings, but needed help from Lefty Paddison, who relieved him after the first three batters got on in the bottom of the ninth and cut the margin to three runs... Paddison got a double play and a ground-out to close out the victory... LF Big Hoss Burkhalter (.432), 1B Nate Cockcroft (.421) and 3B Adam Farinas (.269) each batted in a pair of runs for the winners... C Otto Kronvath (.283) belted a two-run homer for LaGrange... Jay-Jay DeJarnette ((1-2 3.82) was whacked for seven runs in four-plus innings for the defeat... The Sundowners now await the winner of Luxora and Denton City... the Redbirds hold a 3-1 advantage going into today's fifth game.

Tycobbian Union - Game 5 at De la Vega Stadium in Luxora

DC Redbirds Advance To Pro Cup Finals
Denton City dumped Luxora 7-4 in game five of the TU Final 4 Series and will now head to the Pro Cup Finals against the Wynnamac Sundowners of the Ruthlandian Union... Denton City took the series four games to one... LF Nigel Huxley (.257) sparkled on defense and also unloaded two more homers and batted in three runs to spark the Redbirds to the IPA championship round... It was Huxley's 6th postseason homer... Three pitchers combined for the victory with starter Doug Blair working the first six frames, allowing three runs and four hits... he departed trailing 3-2... The win went to Tom Duroncelay (2-0 1.50), who permitted one run in his two and one-third innings... Duroncelay's control got him in trouble in the ninth and he needed relief from Mike Danek... Danek came in with the bases loaded and one out... He retired SS Scott Sanderson (.212) on a fly ball, but the runner tagged up and scored from third... LF Joel Reed (.306) singled to left, but the runner on second was thrown out at home on a perfect throw from Huxley to end the game... the Redbirds tied the score at 3-3 in the seventh, then busted it wide open with a four-run outburst in the eighth... Huxley's second homer gave Denton City a 5-3 lead... 3B Jay Petit (.308) and CF Rod MacCormack (.308) followed with RBI singles to push them ahead by four runs... The Redbirds outgunned the Zorros 17 hits to 6... 2B Darrion Ramsdell (.342) and Petit paced them with three hits apiece... reliever Ricardo Topez (0-1) was the loser... he was the victim of the four-run uprising... 2B Bobby Bayas (.286) led Luxora with two hits, including a two-run homer in the fourth inning that put them in front 3-2.
