RU Honors Top Glovemen for 2008
Great glovemen can range far and wide to make a backhand stop or an over-the-shoulder catch -- and the best usually make it look easy. Quincy Peterson of LaGrange won his fourth Gold Glove Award, while Virgil Carpenter of St. John has been named three times in his career. All the others are first-time winners. Today the winners of the Ruthlandian Union Golden Glove Award for 2008 were announced. These awards for defensive excellence go to:

Pitcher: Erke Tonisson (Valka Blackhawks) 1.000 FA/42 Assists
Catcher: Virgil Carpenter (St. John Crusaders) .996 FA/33.3% RTO/4 PB
First Baseman: Russ Honor (Glasco Athletics) .995 FA/101 Assists
Second Baseman: Ed Miles (Taranto Tars) .984 FA/469 Assists
Third Baseman: Danny Church (Volusia Vigilantes) .981 FA/350 Assists
Shortstop: Bill Nilsen (LaGrange Sports) .983 FA/505 Assists

TU Rewards Top Defenders for 2008
Golden Glove Awards are the symbol for defensive excellence, a recognition of the best of the best in defense. Owen MacArthur of Rolling Hills, Todd Bryant of Bay St. Clair and Dane Wesner of Fairfax are two-time Gold Glovers. The other recipients were named for the first time. The Tycobbian Union Golden Glove Award trophies for 2008 have been awarded to these outstanding fielders:
