TU Twirlers Too Tough, Blank RU Stars 2-0
No ones knows whether it's voodoo or black magic or whatever, but the Tycobbian All-Stars continued their hex over the Ruthlandian All-Stars in the annual midsummer's classic... the TU twirlers tamed them 2-0 and allowed them only five hits... it was Tycobbia's eighth win in the nine-game series... Ruthlandia's only triumph came in 2002... CF Tommy Riddle (Bayview) was the hero with a two-run two-bagger in the bottom of the fourth... with two away 3B Cameron Kamara (Oxford) and 2B Loren Babcock (Blue Lake) singled and put runners on first and second... Riddle doubled to left to drive in the only runs in the game and was voted the game's MVP... the TU Stars only got four hits in the game, but it was enough... Emerson Carnell (Oxford) got credit for the victory as he held Ruthlandia runless in the top of the fourth... Hernando Espaderos (Stoner) was tagged with the loss as he gave up two runs in his two innings... Tycobbia pitchers fanned seven and walked only one, while Ruthlandia hurlers struck out six and issued four bases on balls. Ruthlandia committed the only error in the game.
