A great pitchers duel between Billy Pierce and Jack Pfiester came down to the end but it was the scappy Cubbies who rallied in the 9th to break open a tie and beat he Sox.
It was two pinch hitters that got the big hits in concecutive order for the Cubs as Solly Hoffman and Pat Moran drove in two runs each in the crucial ninth.
