1981 Montreal Expos vs 1954 New York Giants

1981 Montreal Expos
Record: 60-48
Finish: Lost to Dodgers in NLCS
Manager: Dick Williams
Key Players: Tim Raines (OF), Gary Carter (C), Andre Dawson (OF)
Team Batting: .246
Team ERA: 3.30
Home Runs: 81
Snapshot: In a strike shortened season this team came one game away from making it to the world series and in essence was the best team the franchise ever had. A very fast outfield and balanced offense allowed this team to take advanatge of the carpet at Olympic Stadium. The pitching stff isnt the greatest but does get bolstered with Jeff Reardon coming out of the bullpen.

1954 New York Giants
Record: 97-57
Finish: Won 54 World Series championship
Manager: Leo Durocher
Key Players: Willie Mays (OF), Johnny Antonelli (SP), Don Mueller (OF)
Team Batting: .264
Team ERA: 3.09
Home Runs: 186
Snap shot: Always a good team, the 54 Giants finally went all the way led by the beseball God known as Willie Mays. Mays was so good at the Polo Grounds in center field that he often times stopped opponent rallies just with his presence. The Giant pitching staff was also utilized well by Durocher where a number of men had career years.

Probable Matchups
Game 1: Steve Rogers (12-8, 3.42 ERA) vs Johnny Antonelli (21-7, 2.30)
Game 2: Bill Gullickson (7-9, 2.80) vs Ruben Gomez (17-9, 2.88)
Game 3: Scott Sanderson (9-7, 2.95) vs Sal Maglie (14-6, 3.26)
