Fairfax's Wesner Triple Crown Winner
This season, Dane Wesner exhibited a rare combination of hitting both for average and power. Indeed, the Fairfax Frogs star claimed baseball's Triple Crown, leading the Tycobbian Union in batting average, home runs and RBIs.
"I've always taken pride in my ability to hit the ball," Wesner said. "But honestly I never thought I'd put up numbers like that."
He led the Tycobbian Union with a .383 BA, 46 home runs and 146 RBIs. The 25-year-old Frogs left fielder is the 2nd player in Islandian Pro Alliance history to do this rare feat. Quite a year for quite a player. East Point Panther SS Karol Zodoka was the first to do in 2002. Zodoka clouted 54 roundtrippers to set an all-time IPA mark, led the league with a .351 batting average and outpaced everybody with 146 RBIs.
