GEHRIG DRIVES IN 7! YANKS WITH HISTORIC WIN

In an incredible afternnon at Memorial Stadium the 1936 New York Yankees dominated the 66 Orioles so badly that one could harly believe it.

The Yankees beat the Orioles 16-0! Yes sixteen runs on 20 hits in a game that was never close and looked like a game between a little league team and a pro one. The star of the evening definately was Lou Gehrig who had a historic day. Gehrig went 6 for 6 and drove in 7 runs which could be considered records on their own as few have done this in the history of the game. Gehrig hit a two run home run in the 4th inning to start the parade and the runs and humiliation for the Orioles never stopped.

Oriole starter Steve Barber let up 9 runs in 4 innings and couldnt match Lefty Gomez the Yankees starter who looked like his great old young self. Gomez handcuffed the home side on a three hit shutout complete game.

"It was incredible to watch them hit" said Brooke Robinso after the loss, "I really cant see anyone getting these guys out."

Gehrig simply may be the greatest hitter that ever was.

So the 1936 Yankees move on as the only team to complete a sweep and move on. And the way they did it was massively impressive. The box score speaks for itself.
