ONE SWING AND A WIN

In a classic pitching duel at Comiskey Park where neither pitcher deserved to lose the game, it was a solo home run in the 7th inning by Danny Litwhiler gave the game to the 1944 Cardinals who take the lead in the series.

Both Lefty Williams and Ted Wilks went the distance and kept their opoonents off balance, battling through jams and showing grit and resolve for their teams. Great defense by the Cardinals helped their cause as the White Sox had only 7 base runners on the day.

On the other side the Cardinals stranded 23 runners but actually scored their run with no one on base. Tough luck starter Left Williams really deserved better, but his offense couldnt get it done.

A brilliant game of baseball with strategy and intrigue in Game 3, will the Cards close it out in game 4?
