2011 IPA All-Star Game at Colfax

RU Stars Finally Beat TU Stars
The Ruthlandian All-Stars snapped a long 8-game losing streak to the Tycobbian All-Stars at Colfax's Mountain View Stadium... The RU Stars edged the TU Stars 3-2 with a run in the top of the ninth... LF Fred Collins (Sligo) singled with two away and moved to third on a base hit by CF Chris Collins (Stoner), then scored the game-winning run on an RBI single by 1B Ron Armstrong (San Dimas)... Merle Studebaker (Turon) was the losing pitcher with the victory going to Raul Marroquin (San Dimas), who pitched a scoreless bottom of the eighth... Charlie Murphy (Claxton) got the save... He allowed two hits in the last of the ninth, but held the TU Stars runless... Fred Collins was voted the game's MVP as he went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored... Ruthlandia outhit Tycobbia 11 to 7 in the game... The TU Stars struck first with two runs in the opening frame... RF Jet Kazmarek (Arroyo Grande) singled and scored on CF Gary Horn's (South Fork) triple... LF Dane Wesner (Fairfax) got the second run in on a sac fly... Ruthlandia evened it up with two runs in the top of the fifth... Fred Collins had an RBI single that drove in C Hal Stevenson (Sugar Valley), who had led off the inning with a single.... CF Stan Maples (Forest City) tied the score with an RBI ground-out that plated RF Clell Renshaw (Sligo)... Tycobbia still has on overwhelming 8 to 2 lead in the IPA All-Star series... Ruthlandia got its only other win in 2002.
