Not sure he used the word hate to describe the Yankees specifically, just the general feeling that every sport has a franchise that general fans "hate".
I am not a Yankees fan, but I enjoy baseball more when they are relevant. And I don't mind that they spend their money.
I would also love to see the league move another team to the area. It might take ten or more years to get traction, but I think it would be good for the sport.
