My bad. The newspaper date was actually 1895, as shown in the image filename.

I've corrected the text in my previous
post.
I made the same
Rochester Fitzgerald mistake a few weeks ago. Regardless of the banner, the Rochester source photo in question (attached) actually shows the 1890 team. The players included are:
(back) Ted Scheffler, Tom O'Brien, Wells, Bob Barr, Sandy Griffin, Jimmy Knowles
(middle) Bill Greenwood, Dan Burke, Patrick Powers (mgr), Deacon McGuire, Will Calihan
(front) John J. Fitzgerald, Dave McKeough, Brinker (mascot), Harry Lyons, Marr Phillips
The player identifications match the 1890 Rochester Broncos team roster:
1890 Rochester Broncos
Based on the proper team photo dating, and according to the playing records shown for
John H. and
John J., the player in the lower-left corner is John J. (1890), not John H. (1891).
As a part of the facepack cleanup I'm working on, I've been digging into the "pitching Fitzgeralds." I checked with SABR and found that the
woodcut of John H. Fitzgerald (1891) which I posted yesterday is the only verified image of John H. This is the image that will be included in the next release of the facepack.
Anyone who would like more information on the Fitzgeralds or the facepack cleanup can private-message me for details. I will be posting a missing player update soon, after I finish matching the OOTP missing list with the SABR missing list.
