Siegfried Beats Kelly, Eastshore Wins Opener 5-2
Eastshore's outstanding rookie left-hander Danny Siegfried throttled Far Mountain 5-2 in game one of the RU Final 4... Siegfried (3-0 1.08) held Redhawk bats to just 5 hits and 2 runs, none of them earned... Siegfried won 26 games during the regular season and lost only 8 times... the big blows in the game were delivered by 1B Vic Keller (.133), who ripped a 3-run double in the first to put the Elegants on top 3-2... Nats SS Gil Lantz (.625) continued to sizzle in the batter's box with a home run in the seventh to make it 4-2 and LF Tim Lanyon (.263) singled in the final run... postseason vet Robby Kelly with 16 lifetime playoff wins didn't succeed today... Kelly (0-2 7.04) was touched for 5 runs and 6 hits in a complete-game outing... SS Don Nichols (.333) led Far Mountain with an RBI single and RF Julian Zavala (.421) got the other run in on a bases-loaded walk... both came in the first.

Nats Nip Turon 8-5 On Couch's HR In 12th
Ozarka powered its way to an 8-5 victory over Turon in the TU Final 4 opening game at Ellie Ewing Stadium in Ozarka... SS James Couch (.205) had a career day with 5 RBIs, including the game-winning 3-run bomb that decided it it in the last of the twelfth... the Naturals swatted 16 hits in all with LF Vic Weinstein (.214) scoring 3 times, batting in 2 and smacking 3 hits... Ozarka's fourth pitcher got credit for the win... Harold Hutch (1-0) worked a scoreless twelfth... Jeb Pickett (0-1) was the loser as he was ripped for 3 runs in less than an inning... RF Jack Brown (.273) paced Turon 12-hit attack with 3 RBIs... Typhoon starter Nicky Engstrom went 7 innings and left trailing 3-2... Nats starter Benny Ostermann worked 8 innings and departed with a 5-2 lead, but reliever Dennis Purcell blew the save and allowed the Typhoons to tied the score and send it to extra innings.
