Eastshore and Ozarka Touted Favorites In Pro Cup '17
If the baseball forecasters are right, it will be the Eastshore Elegants and the Ozarka Naturals again going head-to-head for the 2017 Pro Cup in a repeat of last year's finals. Eastshore is the defending Pro Cup champ, who raced through the RU North with a 98-56 season record, the best in the IPA. Likewise, Ozarka piled up the most victories in the Tycobbian Union with a 97-57 mark. Both clubs feature high-powered offense and good pitching. In The Islandian Times annual Pro Cup poll the Elegants were favored to beat the Nats in the Pro Cup finals. Rocky Rapids, Turon and Bay St. Clair got some support in the balloting.

Rocky Rapids is expected to give Eastshore the biggest fight in the Ruthlandian Union. They will play each other in first round action in the RU Elite 8 Series, which gets underway tomorrow. Valka and Valmara are slated in the other RU Elite 8 series. Neither are given much chance in the playoffs.

Ozarka will have two big tests against Bay St. Clair and Turon, two highly-touted clubs. The Naturals will face the Buccaneers in Tycobbian first round action. Turon goes up against Luxora in the other affair. Luxora is rated the weakest team among the four and is not expected to create much of a stir in the postseason.
