2017 IPA Golden Gloves Awarded
Year's Best Gloves Selected by Ruthlandian Union
"Flashing the leather" and "good with the glove" are ways to describe players who help their teams by thwarting the opponent's offense. Today the most dependable glovemen in the Ruthlandian Union for 2017 were announced. Golden Glove Awards will be presented to these top-notch defenders:
Pitcher: Eddie Lasky (Valka Blackhawks) 1st time
Catcher: Hal Stevenson (Sugar Valley Rattlers) 5th time
First Baseman: Joel Williams (Rocky Rapids Snappers) 1st time
Second Baseman: Herb Buck (Crystal Lake Crushers) 1st time
Third Baseman: Jug Slavin (Grand City Cybercats) 2nd time
Shortstop: Lucas Badeaux (Rocky Rapids Snappers) 1st time
Left Fielder: Tony Piel (Glasco Athletics) 2nd time
Center Fielder: Russ Woodward (Marston Nine) 2nd time
Right Fielder: Lloyd Voss (Elnora All-Stars) 1st time
Top Fielders Honored by Tycobbian Union
Great glovemen can range far and wide to make a backhand stop or an over-the-shoulder catch -- and the best usually make it look easy. Today the winners of the Tycobbian Union Golden Glove Award for 2017 were announced. These awards for defensive excellence go to:
Pitcher: Tommy Ruffin (Chicopee Braves) 2nd time
Catcher: Jim Schubert (Red Bluff Red Sox) 4th time
First Baseman: Bill McCann (Southport Sun Sox) 1st time
Second Baseman: Joaquin Malagon (Luxora Zorros) 1st time
Third Baseman: Jose Aguilar (Red Bluff Red Sox) 3rd time
Shortstop: Patsy Bates (Colchester Elites) 1st time
Left Fielder: Jeff Elliott (Ginza Ninjas) 1st time
Center Fielder: Derek Ryckman (Cape Coral Hurricanes) 4th time
Right Fielder: Dane Wesner (Fairfax Frogs) 6th time
