2018 IPA Pro Cup Playoffs
Ruthlandian Union Final 4 Series
Rocky Rapids Rallies Late, Series Tied 3-3
Underdog Ancona had its chance, but couldn't finish off the rebounding Rocky Rapids Snappers in game six of the RU Final 4... Rocky Rapids rallied from a 2-1 deficit in the bottom of the eighth, triggered by a pair of crucial errors that opened the door for 4 unearned runs... LF Scott Camden (.316) and CF Carl Johnson (.200) had 2-run singles in the rally... it was another defensive nighmare as the Red Elephants committed 4 errors to doom Doug Blair to defeat... Blair (3-1 3.08) lost his first playoff game this season... he permitted 6 hits and only one earned run... Joe Anderson (2-2 2.17) fired a strong game for the Snappers, holding Ancona to 2 runs and 4 hits with 8 Ks and 3 walks... Milt Baker chalked up his 4th postseason save by retiring the side in the ninth... the series finale will be tomorrow afternoon at Snapper Stadium in Rocky Rapids... rookie Lynwood Marshall will go for Ancona and Junior Noland (23-10 2.57) will be on the mound for Rocky Rapids... Marshall is 1-1 with an 0.71 ERA in 5 playoff appearances, while Noland is 2-2 with a 1.59 ERA... Marshall, normally a reliever, made his first IPA start ever in game 4 and beat the Snappers 1-0... Noland stopped the Red Elephants 4-1 in game one, but lost game four to Marshall.

Turon Bumps Bucs Out Of Playoffs 5-4
The Turon Typhoons are headed for the Pro Cup Finals for a record sixth time after they disposed of the Bay St. Clair Buccaneers in the TU Final 4 by beating them in four of the six games... the Typhoons edged the Bucs 5-4 in game 6... 2B Matt Madison (.288) and 3B Mickey O'Malley led the way with 2 RBIs apiece and Ted Farentino and Merle Studebaker did the job on the hill... Farentino (3-0 2.45) worked 8 innings and permitted only 2 earned runs and 7 hits... although Bay St. Clair got to him for 4 runs in all... closer Merle Studebaker did his job again with a runless ninth for his 3rd postseason save... Dean Dailey went the distance in defeat, surrendering 9 hits and 5 runs... the Typhoons jumped off to a 2-0 lead after 2 innings... the Bucs tied it in the fifth, only to fall behind again 4-2 in the bottom of the frame... BSC closed it to 4-3 in the sixth... Turon expanded it to 5-3 in the seventh and the Buccaneers made it close with a run in the ninth... SS Jimmy Sawyer (.095) batted in 2 runs in the game to lead the Bucs offensively... pitcher Dailey had 2 doubles... Turon had the edge in hits 9 to 8... the Typhoons will attempt to win their 4th Pro Cup against the winner of the Ancona and Rocky Rapids series... the two clubs will tangle tomorrow in game 7 at Snapper Stadium in Rocky Rapids for the RU title.
