2020 IPA All-Star Game In Rocky Rapids
RU Stars No-Hit TU Stars 2-0
Can you believe it? A no-hit game in the IPA All-Star Game? At Snapper Stadium in Rocky Rapids, the Tycobbian Stars got only one runner on base and that was on an error in the seventh inning. The RU Stars only got 5 hits, but it was enough to come away with a 2-0 triumph in the 20th All-Star clash. This was only the sixth victory for Ruthlandia in the series. The winning runs came in the last of the eighth, when Gerry Garner (Eastshore) doubled to lead off the inning and went to third on a deep fly out. Danny Sommers (Belair Beach) singled in the eventual game-winner. The RU Stars added another run when Joe DeLucca (Volusia) got on base on a fielder's choice, then stole second and third and easily rode in on Slick Hammill's (Belle Plaine) base hit. Les Patterson (Sligo) got the win and Neil Walton (Ranford) got the save. Joji Azuma (Ginza) allowed both scores and 3 hits for the loss. Starter Billy Ray and Sommers were selected co-MVPs. Ray worked two perfect innings and fanned two batters.
