Friday, May 2nd, 1873: There was double misery today for the Red Stockings John Clapp as he saw his 35-game hitting streak end and his team lose 8-6 to Cincinnati at South End Grounds I. The 21-year-old catcher was held hitless in 5 at-bats by the Reds.

Consecutive-Game Hit Streak Continues for White
