Friday, July 11th, 1873: Every day everyone is checking up on Dick Higham to see if he got a hit to keep his hitting streak alive. Today's answer is "yes." He did it with a 1-4 day against the Blues. The Baltimore Canaries catcher stretched the streak to 20 games in his team's 10-9 triumph over the Cleveland Blues at Newington Park.

Thursday, July 17th, 1873: Canaries catcher Dick Higham was one of the hottest hitters in baseball, coming into today's game against Cleveland with a 20-game hitting streak. However, the Blues put a chill in his bat, at least for today, and held him hitless in 5 at-bats during the Cleveland 13-6 triumph at Newington Park.
