Wood Hits in 25 Straight Games
Monday, June 1st, 1874: The number just keeps getting higher and higher. Blues second baseman Jimmy Wood has now extended his hitting string to 25 games. He did it with 2 hits in the Cleveland 13-9 win over the Brown Stockings at Grand Avenue Park.

Setback for Philadelphia and Jim Devlin
Saturday, June 27th, 1874: Philadelphia first baseman Jim Devlin has suffered a setback in his recovery from a broken bone in the elbow. According to Athletics officials, he will be disabled another 3 months. "Doctors are concerned with the rate of healing and have decided that Devlin will need additional time in rehab before he will be cleared to play," one team spokesman explained to reporters.
