Cap Anson Out 3 Weeks
Sunday, September 27th, 1874: The Cincinnati Reds were dealt a severe blow when Cap Anson was hurt running the bases recently in a game against the Brooklyn Atlantics. After the game, the team trainer reported Anson might have to spend a lengthy time on the disabled list. Today doctors confirmed it, ruling the 22-year-old third baseman out for the rest of the season with a strained posterior cruciate ligament. They indicated it would take Anson at least 3 weeks to heal.
