Monday, September 25th, 1876: Fans hailed the signing of Ross Barnes today as the Philadelphia Athletics second baseman came to terms with the club.

Set to make $2,550 over the upcoming 6 years, Barnes signed primarily out of loyalty to the organization, thrilling the most diehard supporters who think there isn't much loyalty in a market driven by free agency.

Currently Barnes is batting .308 with 76 hits and no home runs. He has knocked in 27 runs and scored 43 times.
