Deal: Hallinan for Gould
Saturday, November 11th, 1876: The Baseball News Network is reporting that the Atlantics and Athletics have consummated a trade. Philadelphia will receive 27-year-old shortstop Jimmy Hallinan in a swap for 29-year-old first baseman Charlie Gould and 22-year-old shortstop Lou Say. A league analyst called the trade a "pretty even transaction".

Career-to-date Hallinan has rung up a .278 average, played in 254 games and collected 22 doubles, 7 triples and 2 home runs.

Gould has a lifetime average of .266, has played in 123 games, and has collected 1 home run and 71 RBIs.

Sunday, November 26th, 1876: As speculation mounted into the morning, rumors over a final agreement between George Wright and St. Louis became a reality, with the star opting for a $1,772 deal over 4 years.

Baltimore will get 26-year-old shortstop Jim Holdsworth and Chicago will pick up 29-year-old right fielder Herb Worth and 21-year-old catcher Bill Holbert in return. "I'm not surprised by the news," one of the players told reporters, "It's part of the business and I understand that. I am looking forward to playing for the Orioles."

In his all-time stats Worth is hitting .270 with 136 hits, 2 home runs, 93 runs scored and 90 RBIs.

Lifetime Holdsworth has hit .306 with 288 hits, 1 home run, 141 RBIs and scored 170 runs.

Baltimore Wins Lottery for 3B Anson
Tuesday, December 5th, 1876: Sportswriters, fans and team officials listened today as 24-year-old third baseman Cap Anson committed to a $1,296, 3-year deal with Baltimore.

While Anson is seen as a solid player, he is still relatively inexperienced.

Saturday, December 23rd, 1876: Seen as a robust, fit and extremely athletic solution, left fielder George Hall took the podium this afternoon to announce that he and the Orioles had reached an agreement totaling $1,359 over 3 years.
