Their offensive catalyst, as the Cincinnati manager calls him, saw his 21-game hitting streak snapped as Kelly was held hitless by the Chicago White Stockings at Lake Front Park I. The 20-year-old catcher went 0-for-4. It should have made for a lousy day, but his teammates picked up the slack and whipped the White Stockings 4-0.
