NABL News: Draft Pool Revealed
Thursday, October 2nd, 1879: The biggest anxiety for 1879 new young players is getting drafted. For the young man with something to prove, simple entrance into the draft does not guarantee a big league contract. Some will suffer the excruciating torment of having to stand by as their competitors get picked before them, hoping that they get a slim chance to prove their skills anywhere. At any rate, teams now have 30 days to scout the draft pool before the draft is held.

The Transactions page also gets a new section dedicated to the draft pool, which will be available for 30 days prior to the draft.

The top players available (in no particular order) seem to be:
1. Roger Connor, 22 year-old first baseman out of college.
2. Buck Ewing, 19 year-old catcher out of high-school.
3. John Reilly, 20 year-old first baseman out of college.
4. Frank Mountain, 19 year-old starting pitcher out of high-school.
5. Lee Richmond, 22 year-old starting pitcher out of college.
6. Mickey Welch, 20 year-old starting pitcher out of college.
7. Stump Wiedman, 18 year-old starting pitcher out of high-school.
8. Arlie Latham, 19 year-old third baseman out of high-school.
9. Charlie Guth, 23 year-old reliever out of college.
10. Fred Dunlap, 20 year-old second baseman out of college.
