TU Stars Trounce RU In 23rd All-Star Game
Tycobbia scored in the first six frames and trounced Ruthlandian 11-3 in the IPA All-Star Classic at Lakefront Stadium in Crystal Lake... the TU Stars pounded out 14 hits to win for the 17th time in 23 All-Star games, led by MVP Steve Valverde (North Hills) with 3 hits, 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored... Flash Devlin (La Claire) added a pair of hits, including the game's only homer, and 3 runs batted in... the RA All-Stars racked up 10 hits and committed 3 errors, giving up 5 unearned runs... Tycobbia played flawless defense... rookie Rod Bailey (Southport) got the win with a scoreless second inning... RU rookie starter Randy Boone (Eastshore) was tagged with the loss as he was smacked for 4 runs and 5 hits in the first two innings, although only one of the runs was earned... Tycobbia dominates the All-Star series, but Ruthlandia has won more Pro Cups, leading 14 to 8.
